The spy whom we love

Drawing on his recent book The Bondian Cold War: The Transnational Legacy of a Cultural Icon (Routledge, 2024), Dr.Brown will explore James Bond as a cultural figure of the Cold War. The talk will examine how Bond’s stories reflected—and sometimes reshaped—the politics, tensions, and popular culture of the era, and how the spy became a global, transnational icon across novels, films, comics, and video games.
