Winners of the BCSA third art competition
The focus was on the powerful and timeless theme of Freedom—what it means to children today, inspired in part by the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII.
Over 40 artworks were submitted by children aged 5 to 18, offering a remarkable variety of interpretations. From symbolic poppies, birds, and rainbows to imaginative 3D installations showing different countries helping one another in freedom—each piece was a heartfelt reflection of the young artists’ understanding of the theme.

The competition was judged by Lady Milena Grenfell-Baines and Michal Strouhal, Deputy Czech Ambassador, who both remarked on how difficult it was to choose winners given the high standard of entries.
Congratulations to all the winners, and heartfelt thanks to every child who shared their creativity, imagination, and personal reflections on what freedom means to them.
A special thank you to Dr Jan Telenský for his generous sponsorship and continued support of young artists.
