Desperate for answers about the theft of two of her most precious paintings, Czech artist Barbora Kysilkova seeks out and befriends the career criminal who stole them. After inviting her thief to sit for a portrait, the two form an improbable relationship and Barbora becomes Karl Bertil-Nordland‘s closest ally. Although the paintings are nowhere to be seen, their friendship deepens when he is severely hurt in a car crash and needs full-time care. Over time, the pair form an inextricable bond that will forever link their lonely souls.
